WALES - Terwijl Nederland het verdriet van het niet doorgaan van De Tocht probeert te verwerken, is onze Rachid druk met hele andere zaken. Een afgeblazen hand, een schotwond in zijn long; hij krijgt het allemaal voor kiezen. Gelukkig als oefening, in Wales, waar hij een Awareness Training volgt om -nog- beter te kunnen functioneren in de gevaarlijke gebieden die hij als cameraman bezoekt. Knap dat-ie het allemaal kan, nu maar hopen dat hij het nooit in de praktijk nodig zal hebben.
Rotterdamse Elfstedenkoorts
ROTTERDAM - Ja, ook wij Rotterdammers zijn in de ban van DE Tocht der tochten. Al sinds maandag staan we met onze SNG in Friesland om het nieuws over ijsdiktes, wakken en veegploegen op de voet te volgen. Op de wagen een Feyenoorder in hart en nieren, maar ook een Fries van origine: onze Jeroen. Een betere combinatie kun je niet hebben! In Rotterdam is inmiddels alles in gereedheid, mocht ‘t er van komen. Giet t oan? Op naar Friesland!
HD-SNG in the making
ROTTERDAM – Most of us will use the word ‘cable chaos’ to describe the picture on the right, but this photo was actually sent to us with the underline “beautiful, guys!”. And to be honest: we think it’s very pretty, too! This is our new HD-SNG-to-be. What seems chaos, is actually a clever master piece, designed by our own SNG operators. Attention is paid to the newest of technologies, as well as to comfort and efficiency. We are proud already and can hardly wait: just a few more weeks and our first HD-SNG will be a fact!
2011 Stolk AV Rally
ROTTERDAM – People will be telling us this for months and months: Freek Herberts and Jorne Stolk have won the very first 2011 Stolk AV Rally. They were over the moon with their gigantic Rally trophy, which they brought along to work the next morning, rubbing their victory in everyone’s noses. The rally – organised on the occasion of our 25th anniversary – was plotted by Lodewijk Beijst from Rallymasters (thanks, Lodewijk!). The rally took us in five stages from our office to the Zalmhuis restaurant in Rotterdam. In the restaurant, there were long and heated discussions. Click here

Witness of world history
LIBYA – There are these journeys in your life you will never forget. Camera man Freek Herberts will always remember his trip to Libya with RTL reporter Rik Konijnenbelt. In Libya, he witnessed a piece of world history. Right after Khadafi’s death, he mingled with freed Libyans and visited the house where the colonel ended his days, and just about crawled into the sewage pipe where Khadafi was found by the rebels and met his death soon after. To crown it all, he found the Dutch helicopter on the beach of Sirthe, completely stripped. Nice television, historic memories!
